DATE : 14th May 2008

A fine start by Llyn Cwellyn with Mynydd Mawr behind from the Snowdon Ranger car park

The object of the day , the west side of Snowdon on the way to the start at Rhyd Ddu

Looking back to Rhyd Ddu and Mynydd Mawr

The Llechog ridge leading to Bwlch Main and eventually to Snowdon summit itself

Steep sides of the Llechog ridge

The Bwlch Main ridge

The front of the new summit cafe which should have been open by now but is running behind schedule

Fading sunlight on Crib Goch

The only flat sheltered area on the summit was above the mountain railway

Sunset over Moel Eilio

The same view in the morning at sunrise

Snowdon summit

There's a cloud inversion to the east , this is the view over Y Lliwedd with Arenig Fawr in the background

Further to the east is Moel Siabod

View to Crib Goch

Clouds fight their way over Y Lliwedd

To the west conditions are very clear shown by this view of Moel Cynghorion and Moel Eilio

At 6.15 am I had the summit all to myself ( once a large group of welsh 3000 challenger's had left )

Moel Hebog had patches of cloud reforming over it

Mynydd Mawr and the start of the walk back by Llyn Cwellyn

Cloud flows over Bwlch Ciliau

Cnicht & the Moelwyns have got off rather scott free from the low cloud

The Nantle Ridge with the Rivals in the background

Low cloud over Llyn Llydaw

Cloud fingers it's way over Crib Goch

And gets as far as Bwlch Glas

View above the summit cafe

Eventually the cloud is burnt away leaving hazy views to the east

A train appears carrying the summit cafe workers

Close up of Elidir Fawr

Snowdon summit from Garnedd Ugain
