Blea Moor

DATE : 2nd September 2008

The subject of today's walk , watching over Ribble Head , Blea moor

At Ribble Head is the famous Ribblehead Viaduct with Whernside in the background

Looking back to Ingleborough

A train passes Bleamoor siding's signal box

Another colourful train passes by on the Settle to Carlisle Railway

With the railway line now in Bleamoor tunnel below the footpath follows the same course above

One of the tunnels air shafts surrounded by spoils of earth presumably created during the digging of the tunnel

View back to Ribble Head

The railway emerges in Dent Dale and very soon crosses Dent Dale Viaduct

To the east is Dodd Fell

There's some stormy weather over in Garsdale

A patch of cloud heads eastwards with Dent Railway Station to the right

Wold Fell & Great Knoutberry Hill

Ribble Head and Ingleborough

Close up of Ribblehead Viaduct & Ingleborough

Further east is Pen-y-ghent

And to complete the trio of Yorkshire 3 peaks , Whernside

Although it's nice and sunny on Blea Moor summit the weather further north is pretty dreadful

A freight train passes over Ribblehead Viaduct

My route off Blea Moor heads towards Dodd Fell in the distance where eventually I join the Dale's Way path

The ground is very rough & boggy , this is the view towards Snaizeholme Fell

Ingleborough on the way back to Ribble Head , behind dark clouds head in which in all honesty are long overdue
